Chicken and Rice Casserole problems, diagnosed

Check the rice before adding a thickener. If the rice is still firm and there is loose liquid around it, the casserole may simply need more covered cooking time so the rice can absorb the liquid. If the rice is already tender but the dish is soupy, check the broth-to-rice ratio, whether pre-cooked rice was used in a raw-rice formula, and whether vegetables or mushrooms added extra water.
