Creamy overnight oats with rolled oats, chia seeds, strawberries, blueberries and nuts

Before you start

What this method is trying to achieve

Start from a measured oats-to-liquid ratio, account for chia and other absorbent mix-ins, and adjust with a little extra milk after the overnight soak.

Success looks like

Know the target before you cook

The oats should be creamy and spoonable, with softened grains that still retain some texture rather than becoming a stiff paste.

Critical checkpoints

Stop here and check

other

Base ratio measured?

Oats and liquid are near a balanced starting ratio.

Correct the ratio before chilling.

other

Morning texture spoonable?

The oats stir easily but are not soupy.

Add milk gradually if too thick.

other

Overnight oats too thick?

The mixture is pasty, stiff or difficult to stir.

Use overnight-oats-too-thick.
