Too much liquid was added for the cooking method
The solids float in a large volume of broth and the liquid tastes diluted as well as looking thin.
Compare the actual amount of broth, water and canned liquid with the recipe and cooking method. An unplanned extra cup or an unchanged stovetop liquid amount in a sealed appliance is a strong clue.
If the solids are already tender, remove them temporarily and reduce the liquid uncovered until the flavor and body are closer to the intended result.
